My blog is entitled, Libraries are for Use…but what kind of use?  This study used an innovative approach to answer that question – at least for music students.  I like the “flip book” approach – it’s visual and easy to understand.  OK, so it’s not quantitative, but it does provide information to generate hypotheses, which could be confirmed with experiments or other kinds of studies.

What I liked most about this article, though, was how they would use the results:

These findings can be used to help redesign the library. Design recommendations include placing the technology lab by the entrance to enable quick coming and going, increasing the number of carrels, placing them in quiet parts of the library, and equipping them with electrical outlets.

Making changes based on the evidence…nice.
